Now: Sleepy But Happy

Right now I am collapsed in a heap on my sofa. It’s been a busy day, but wow… so much fun! After a quick trip to the Strip District for a few last minute items I was off to the Hebrew National Better-Than-A-Picnic picnic in Highland Park. We had great hotdogs (I mean really, really great. It’s the brand I always buy for my family and the brand I get at Joe’s outside my office), good friends, fun service projects, and grim weather. Honestly though, the off and on rain and constant humidity didn’t daunt us at all. I love that we have plans to continue with the service projects into the future, and started brainstorming about new ways to help the community, one small step at a time. I’m so, so proud of Pittsburgh, and you can see why I like it here.

Many thanks to Cooper Munroe and The Motherhood, fellow co-hosts Alaina, Beth and Kim (the tall one!), and most of all to Hebrew National for making it all possible.

I hated to leave a few minutes early but I had to get home. About 30 minutes after I walked in the door I had more than 30 people arriving for dinner. Oliver’s pre-K class, their families and teachers came over to remind me how happy I am with a house full of people. It was loud and chaotic but I think I can safely state a good time was had by all, even the husband of one of the teachers who I think had no idea what he was signing up for.

A few things were left behind. Within 15 minutes of the last departure one parent returned for umbrellas and another phoned about a favorite toy. I’m thinking about posting one of those “stuff you left at my house” sets on Flickr!

[I was a compensated co-host at the Hebrew National Picnic but I would have attended anyway. All opinions are mine.]
